Ooru is a modern homage to where we come from.
Founded by two childhood friends from Bangalore—now living in Malmö and Antwerp—Ooru blends the quiet elegance of Scandinavian design with the rich, handcrafted soul of India. Our name, Ooru, means “hometown” in Kannada and Tamil. It’s our way of staying rooted, even when we’re continents apart.
We make linen shirts that tell stories—with custom embroidery that proudly carries the the artisan who crafted it, name of our brand, and the place it was made. Every shirt is a tribute to skill, intention, and the places and people that shape us.
Ooru isn’t just about looking good. It’s about feeling connected—to tradition, to craft, and to the humans behind your clothes. We work directly with Indian artisans, ensuring fair wages, ethical practices, and a transparent supply chain.
We design for those who carry their roots with pride—and wear them lightly.
Ooru is not just a shirt. It’s a piece of where you're from.

Limited batches
Nothing is rushed—because good things, especially good shirts, take time. Each shirt is crafted in limited batches to uphold our standards and minimize waste.
Giving credit
We honor their craft by embedding their names and where its crafted into every shirt. It’s our way of making their work visible.
